Temperature Page JTG

The temperature is calculated according to JTG 4.3.10.

Uniform temperature

When calculating the applied deformation or restraint deformation of the bridge structure caused by uniformed temperature action, the action effect of the highest and lowest effective temperature should be considered from the average temperature when the structure is restrained

SettingDescription
Uniform Consider uniform temperature load (Yes/No).
T min, max The characteristic values of the highest and lowest effective temperatures of highway concrete and steel structure could be seen from JTG Table 4.3.10-2.

Temperature gradient

SettingDescription
Gradient Consider temperature gradient (Yes/No).
T1, T2 Temperature at the surface of the deck T1 is provided in JTG Table 4.3.10. The negative temperature difference of vertical sunlight for concrete superstructure and steel structure with concrete deck should be -0.5 times of the positive temperature difference.
T3 shall be taken O° C, unless a site-specific study to determinate an appropriate a values, but it shall not exceed 3° C.
A-top; A; A-bottom Vertical temperature gradient in concrete and steel superstructures. For concrete structures, if the height H of the beam is less than 400mm, then A = H-A-top (100) mm; if the height H  of beam is no less than 400mm, then A=300 mm. For steel structures with concrete deck, A=300 mm.

The drawing shows a Positive Vertical Temperature gradient in concrete superstructure.
